Starting in November, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources will provide a 25% discount on overnight camping and rentals for veterans and active-duty military at Ohio State Parks. Governor Mike DeWine signed Senate Bill 233 into law in September to enact the new discount, which aims to recognize the sacrifices made by those who have served the country.
According to ODNR Director Mary Mertz, the discount will apply to most services offered at Ohio State Parks, excluding food and merchandise, and requires valid military identification at check-in.

Ohio State Parks Offering New, Year-Round Discount for Veterans and Active-Duty Military
New discount reflects Ohio's ongoing gratitude for those who have served our nation
COLUMBUS, Ohio , Starting in November, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) will offer a year-round 25% discount on overnight camping and rentals for veterans and active-duty military at Ohio State Parks. Governor Mike DeWine signed Senate Bill 233 into law in September to enact the new discount, which recognizes the sacrifices made by the individuals who have served our country by helping to ensure they can enjoy these outdoor experiences for years to come.
“Ohio is proud to honor the men and women who have served our country, as well as those who are currently serving,” said Governor DeWine. “Offering year-round discounts at our state parks is one small way we can show our appreciation for their service and sacrifice. We want our veterans and active-duty military members and their families to enjoy Ohio’s great outdoors.”
"Veterans and service members have dedicated themselves to protecting our freedoms and serving something greater than themselves," said ODNR Director Mary Mertz. "At ODNR, we are honored to show our appreciation by welcoming them to Ohio's public lands and providing opportunities to spend time with family, enjoy nature, and create lasting memories."
The discount will apply to most services offered at Ohio State Parks, excluding food and merchandise. Veterans and service members can take advantage of the discount by presenting valid military identification at check-in. Additionally, ODNR offers free camping for Ohio veterans who are permanently disabled.
